May 5, 2010 : Governor Doyle Signs SB392 / 2009 Wisconsin Act 225

On May 5th 2010 at 3:15pm, Governor Doyle signed Senate Bill 392 into law, creating 2009 Wisconsin Act 225.

Act 225 provides for the registration of some ex-military vehicles as a "special interest vehicle".

While it is our hope that the list of permitted vehicles will be expanded in the future, the list currently includes Pinzgauers, Humvees, DUKWs, and Kaiser Jeep M715.

The only restriction on operation under this act is that you may not operate during the month of January, unless you pay an additional fee.

Paul Underwood tirelessly (actually, he looked pretty tired!) crusaded for the "daily driver" rights of Pinzgauer owners specifically, and more generally all ex-military vehicle owners.

Many thanks to Paul, the legislators (and their aids) who sponsored the Assembly and Senate bills, and also to the more than 500 Wisconsin residents who signed our petition urging Governor Doyle to sign the bill into law.
